Meet the Teacher

Hi, I'm Jeanette -- the mom and teacher behind Little Learner's Playground.  First and foremost, I am a mom and wife!  I am married to Sam, my high school sweetheart, and we have three precious boys - Jaden, 13 and Elijah, 10, and Zachary, 4.  We also have two perfect precious angels, Caleb, who was two days old when he took his last breath in our arms in October 2012, and Oliver who was born sleeping in May 2018.  Losing our babies really made me realize how precious life is and taught me how to find the beauty in each passing moment.  My family means the absolute world to me.

I am also passionate about education.  I have a dual degree in elementary and special education and have been teaching for 15 years.  I taught early childhood special education for 7 years before beginning a new adventure in kindergarten!  In fact, my oldest son and I started kindergarten together!  I absolutely love working with this age group of children.

I am a teacher at heart and am so blessed to spend each day with my amazing children, as a mom and teacher.  They teach me more than I could ever teach them!  I like to find a balance between fun and learning through a variety of hands-on opportunities, cooperative learning, music & movement, and developmentally appropriate play and exploration experiences!  My heart belongs to the little ones!

I have started this blog as a way to document and share my journey as a mom and teacher.  I hope to inspire and give back to others, while continuing to learn and grow from this awesome community of educators and parents!  I hope to share fun learning activities for the classroom and home, my own classroom creations and resources, parenting and education book reviews, tips and tricks, and anything else I can find that pertains to our little learners!

Some other random facts about me...I'm a positive thinker.  I love crafts and DIY projects.  I am a Sonic vanilla Dr. Pepper connoisseur.  I'm obsessed with organizing and decorating.  I love to throw parties.  My husband and I were high school sweethearts.  I love Burt's Bee's pomegranate chapstick.  I love to dance.  I'm obsessed with vacuuming.  I research nearly everything before purchasing it.  I always wear an angel necklace.  I'm a total night owl.  I keep 7 different journals.  I wish I could sew.  I am a reality TV junkie.  I love glitter and sparkles.  I label EVERYTHING.  I love creativity, positive attitudes, and anything bright & colorful.  I hope to someday make a difference in the world by helping, teaching, and giving back to others.   .
